West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are both off the mark with regards to summer signings.
The Hammers have been busy since the window opened, signing Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Spurs have signed one of the best talents from outside the Premier League, bringing Archie Gray to Tottenham from Leeds United.
Both West Ham and Tottenham have been heavily linked with attacking reinforcements this summer.
The Hammers need cover for Michail Antonio, while Spurs haven’t yet replaced Harry Kane with a like-for-like option.
Now, West Ham are said to still be interested in an “elite” striker from overseas, despite being in talks with Aston Villa over Jhon Duran.
However, Tottenham’s interest in the “phenom”‘ is reportedly more concrete, while Chelsea are also said to be in pursuit.

West Ham and Tottenham keeping tabs on Jonathan David
The player in question is Jonathan David, who has made a real name for himself at Lille over the past few years.
According to 90Min, the Canada international ‘remains an option for West Ham, but interest from London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham is more concrete at this stage.’
The Hammers have reportedly also discussed Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson as an option, though Saudi Pro League clubs are also after him.
David deemed ‘one of the best strikers in the world’
Jonathan David is an incredibly prolific striker, with 84 goals and 18 assists to his name from 183 Lille outings, plus 27 goals and 16 assists from 52 caps for Canada.
Indeed, Canadian sports expert Tony Marinaro has described him as “one of the best strikers in the world”, while The Guardian‘s Adam White has deemed him “elite”.
The 24-year-old is also one of the quickest players in Ligue 1. According to The Speeds Database, he’s faster than the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison.
And with a reported price tag of just £25million, the likes of West Ham and Tottenham could really get themselves a bargain in David.
