Arsenal had an unusual summer transfer window with the Gunners bringing in four players and allowing a number of fan favourites to leave.
Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale all left on permanent deals as Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson left on loan, with the Gunners signing the likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino and Raheem Sterling to plug in the gaps.
One player who was heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer was Jakub Kiwior, with the Polish international expected to be a squad player for the Gunners this season after the arrival of Calafiori and the return of Jurrien Timber from injury.
And it appears that Arsenal’s stance on the defender changed as the summer progressed.

Arsenal became open to letting Jakub Kiwior leave on loan
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal changed their stance on offloading Kiwior with the Gunners becoming open to the idea of letting the former Spezia star depart on loan for the season.
Crystal Palace were believed to be open to signing Kiwior as the defender became subject to numerous offers from a number of Serie A sides, namely Bologna as a replacement for Calafiori and Inter Milan.
However, none of these bids matched what Arsenal were looking for, yet as the window progressed, the Gunners seemingly changed their opinion on letting Kiwior leave, with a loan move becoming favourable.
Yet as we know, Kiwior remained a Arsenal player after last week’s deadline, and the Polish defender could soon be regretting not pushing as hard as he did to leave north London for the season.

Arsenal might have messed up not letting Kiwior leave on loan
With Calafiori, Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko all seemingly ahead of Kiwior in the pecking order at Arsenal, there’s a real chance that supporters might not see the defender at all between now and January.
As a result, the Gunners might have made a big mistake it not letting Kiwior leave on loan, with the Polish international simply too good to be sat on the bench for the entire season and not playing any minutes for Arsenal.
The ‘extraordinary’ defender showed last year that he is more than good enough to impress in the Premier League, and Kiwior’s value could tank in the coming months if Mikel Arteta chooses not to play the former Serie A star.
