Sunderland could still be in store for a dramatic end to this summer’s transfer window with numerous late arrivals on the cards.

Regis Le Bris landed on Wearside earlier this summer and the French manager has taken to life at the Stadium of Light incredibly well.

The Black Cats have gotten themselves off to the perfect start in the Championship with nine points from a possible nine.

However, there is still the hope that more can be done in the final hours of the summer market to bolster Le Bris’ squad for a promotion push.

Sunderland will obviously look back on this window as the one they were forced to sell Jack Clarke but there have been some positives to take from it, too.

Five players have been brought through the doors with money there to be spent now on the back of Clarke’s departure.

Sunderland looking to land Premier League player

Having started off the season in such impressive fashion, it will be a big positive to see the Black Cats looking to strengthen further.

There could be a number of arrivals on Wearside today with Salis Abdul Samed set to undergo his Sunderland medical before joining on loan.

The midfielder may not be the only arrival on loan today before the clock strikes at the end of play.

According to Alex Crook, Sunderland are set to sign Chris Mepham on loan from Bournemouth today.

The 26-year-old defender is now in search of more regular football having failed to play in any of Bournemouth’s opening games this term.

Mepham is a player with a lot of experience in both the Premier League and the Championship which will be perfect for what Sunderland are trying to achieve.

With just six starts to his name in the Premier League last season, the ‘fantastic‘ Mepham should be chomping at the bit to prove his worth elsewhere.

Sunderland need Romaine Mundle to step up

Following the exit of Clarke, Sunderland have been able to keep their winning start going with an impressive win over Burnley.

At the heart of that victory was the former Tottenham Hotspur winger Romaine Mundle who provided the only goal of the game.

A great start for the 21-year-old in Clarke’s place but he has big boots to fill and consistency is going to be key.

Although there won’t be an expectation for him to quite live up to Clarke’s standards, he is going to have to impress if Sunderland are to earn themselves promotion this term.
