Arsenal have managed just one permanent signing this summer in the form of Riccardo Calafiori, yet the Gunners have been busy in regards to player sales.
Emile Smith Rowe left for Fulham in a deal that could recoup Arsenal a club-record fee if add-ons are met, with the north London side also managing to sell Nuno Tavares to Lazio on loan with an obligation to buy.
Danny Murphy tipping Eddie Nketiah to leave Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side are far from done in the transfer market when it comes to selling players, with Reiss Nelson also keen on joining a Premier League team.
And another academy graduate is now on the verge of leaving Arsenal.
Brooke Norton-Cuffy set for Genoa medical ahead of Arsenal exit
According to Fabrizio Romano, Brooke Norton-Cuffy is in Italy to complete his medical with Genoa ahead of a permanent switch to the Serie A side having spent the last two years out on loan away from Arsenal.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “Brooke Norton-Cuffy leaves Arsenal as he’s undergoing medical tests at Genoa this morning. €2m fixed fee, €2m add-ons and sell-on clause for Arsenal.”
Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by former Lincoln City manager Michael Appleton via Lincolnshire Live, Norton-Cuffy made over 100 appearances in the EFL during various loan spells with the likes of Rotherham United, Coventry City and most recently at Milwall.
Yet with a path into Arsenal’s first-team unlikely given how many right-backs the Gunners now have on their books, Norton-Cuffy making the move to Italy could be a wise decision for the defender, where he could become a regular with Genoa.
Norton-Cuffy could make Arsenal regret selling him to Genoa
Norton-Cuffy has been a talent that a lot of Arsenal fans once expected to break into Arteta’s first-team plans, yet the defender, like many who came before, has simply failed to impress the Basque coach.
Which is why Norton-Cuffy can make Arsenal regret selling him to Genoa next season by showing the north London side just how good he really is and how far he can push his development in Italy.
At 20-years-old, Norton-Cuffy has a lot of time ahead of him to make it to the top, and a move to a club like Genoa could be ideal for the youngster, who will want to send Arsenal a message in the years to come.
