Liverpool’s search for a new midfielder is still ongoing after they were rocked by Martin Zubimendi’s decision to reject a move to Anfield.
The Real Sociedad midfielder has decided to stay at his current club this summer, and that’s put Liverpool back to square one as they search for a new midfield player.
Of course, a number of rumours have since emerged about the Reds looking at various different options.
Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes is one player who has been tentatively linked to Liverpool, but, unfortunately, that one doesn’t look like it will go ahead.

What senior Liverpool sources are saying about Bruno Guimaraes
According to The Athletic, senior sources at Liverpool are playing down any links to Guimaraes.
Indeed, it is said that senior sources within Anfield are adamant that there is no interest in Guimaraes.
Of course, this is quite a definitive update, but Liverpool often do play their cards close to their chests in these situations.
Liverpool often deny rumours before actually making moves, and while there’s no sign that this is the case here, the Guimaraes rumours may not be totally unfounded.
Bruno Guimaraes would be ideal for Liverpool
Liverpool are said to have no interest in signing Guimaraes, but that doesn’t change the fact the Brazilian would still be an incredible addition for the Reds.
Guimaraes has shown for Newcastle that he has what it takes to be a top-level player in the Premier League, and he’d add that level of poise and control to this Liverpool midfield.
Of course, getting this deal done wouldn’t be easy, and Liverpool aren’t even said to be interested, but if there’s any midfield player in the league who’d suit the Reds, it’s Guimaraes.
Liverpool do still need a new midfield player through the door this summer, and with the clock ticking, Arne Slot’s side need to get a move on and make something happen soon.
