Report: After signing Ryan Sessegnon, Fulham have now bid for ‘outstanding’ Tottenham target

After ending his five year stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, left wing-back Ryan Sessegnon decided to return to Fulham and to Craven Cottage.

Spurs had high hopes for Sessegnon in 2019, a player who looked destined to play for England on a regular basis.

However, injuries have thwarted the 24-year-old ever since he moved to north London, meaning it was deemed untenable for Tottenham to offer Sessegnon a new contract.

Fulham have taken a risk signing their former favourite, hoping he can solve a number of positions on the left.

And just like Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke over the weekend, it doesn’t seem as if Fulham’s spending will stop there.

Ange Postecoglou still wants to add a defender to his back-line this summer, one that currently lacks depth for a Europa League campaign.

And after seeing Tosin Adarabioyo leave the club to join Chelsea on a free, Fulham are also seeking a similar profile.

That being said, after reports that Tottenham are considering a move for Joachim Andersen, Fulham have just had a bid rejected for the Crystal Palace defender.

Fulham in talks to sign Tottenham target Joachim Andersen before August deadline

28-year-old Andersen has emerged as a surprise target for Spurs, considering Postecoglou’s starting pair are very settled.

Neither Andersen, Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven would enjoy sitting on the bench regularly at any club this season – but perhaps that’s the level of competition Tottenham are seeking.

Either way, if Spurs are seriously interested in a move, they may need to act fast.

As via journalist David Ornstein who shared his report via The Athletic, Fulham have just submitted a £20m offer for their former defender, Andersen.

The offer falls short of Palace’s £40m asking price, but significantly, talks are continuing between the two clubs.

From Palace’s point of view, it would seem odd to sell both Andersen and Marc Guehi in one window – with the latter also a target for Newcastle United.

But given how ‘outstanding’ Andersen has been for Palace in recent seasons, perhaps one of Fulham or Tottenham will decide to pay the south London club’s asking price.

In other news, an interesting report has emerged about Lucas Bergvall’s immediate future at Tottenham.
