Fabio Carvalho’s Liverpool future has been up in the air all summer.

The Arne Slot era has begun at Anfield, and early signs are really positive after the Reds’ incredible pre-season tour of the United States.

Liverpool seem to be preparing well for the start of the 2024/25 season, but there are still a few doubts over the futures of some of their players.

Young Carvalho is one of them, and here’s an update on his situation.

Fabio Carvalho’s agents send clear message to Liverpool

Liverpool signed Carvalho from Fulham in May 2022.

The young midfielder was viewed by many in the country as an exceptional talent. He had all the attributes to succeed at the top level, and that’s why the Reds pushed to sign him.

Carvalho has made just 21 senior appearances for Liverpool, but he spent a couple of loan spells away from the club over the last 12 months.

The youngster had a disappointing time at RB Leipzig in the first half of the 2023/24 season, but he was outstanding when he went to Hull at the turn of the year.

Carvalho is back now, and the 21-year-old has had an amazing pre-season. He scored in back-to-back games against Arsenal and Manchester United and has looked really good.

However, reports have claimed that Carvalho could still leave Liverpool before the window shuts in August.

CaughtOffside have shared an update on the situation.

The outlet has revealed that Liverpool have made Carvalho available for sale for €30 million (£25m) after rejecting Southampton’s bid to sign him.

The Saints are expected to come back in with an offer in the range of €20m/€21m (£17m/£18m), but Carvalho’s stance is completely different.

The report claims that ‘Carvalho’s agents have informed Liverpool that the 21-year-old wishes to stay on Merseyside for the 2024/25 campaign’.

What Slot feels about Carvalho

Carvalho’s loan spell at Hull in the second half of the 2023/24 season was really good.

The 21-year-old scored nine goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances, which is a fine return for someone of his age.

Carvalho has been training under Slot since the start of pre-season, and The Athletic have revealed that the new Liverpool manager has been ‘hugely impressed’ with the former Fulham man.

It remains to be seen now if Liverpool will decide to keep hold of Carvalho and give him an opportunity to shine in the 2024/25 Premier League season.
