After sealing a deal for Riccardo Calafiori earlier this month, it’s believed that Arsenal will still be very active in the transfer window.
Mikel Arteta could still welcome three new Arsenal signings after Calafiori, meaning Edu and his team will be busy before the end of August.
Primarily, Arsenal are prioritising a deal for Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino, a midfielder envisioned to add to Arteta’s options in the middle.
Merino can play as an eight, allowing Declan Rice to step back into the pivot, or could prove beneficial as a substitute in a similar role to one he played for Spain at the Euros.
Put simply, Arteta’s focus this summer is on improving his squad depth in north London – an attempt to bridge the smallest of gaps to Manchester City.
And it’s not only the Premier League title Arsenal are chasing, they’ll want to start backing up their good football with trophies across the board.
That being said, there’s still hope among the club’s supporters that Arsenal will chase the addition of a superstar, someone who will win games on his own.
Napoli are desperate to sell Arsenal target Victor Osimhen before end of month
To that end, Arsenal are still linked with a move for Victor Osimhen, who is increasingly keen to leave Napoli before the end of the month.
And when reflecting on the window as a whole so far, The Independent have just provided an interesting insight into Osimhen’s situation.

It was recently reported that Osimhen had been left out of Napoli’s pre-season squad, overlooked for one of Antonio Conte’s first friendlies.
And now the report mentioned has claimed that Napoli are ‘desperate’ to get Osimhen off of their books.
The Italian club can’t afford the wages they agreed with Osimhen as part of a new deal that was designed to ensure a higher sale price for the club.
And right now, it seems as if no European side can afford the £85m-rated striker either.
It remains to be seen if Napoli will reduce Osimhen’s asking price further as the month progresses.
As a result, it would be interesting to see when Arsenal would consider a deal good value, if at all.
According to the report mentioned, Napoli previously wanted £170m for Osimhen – an unthinkable sum in today’s quiet market.
And perhaps Arsenal may decide to turn to a Man City forward instead.
