West Ham have now signed Germany international Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund – although another striker could also join.
The Hammers agreed a £27m deal with the UEFA Champions League finalists for Fullkrug – who underwent a medical with West Ham on Saturday – and an official announcement was made earlier on Monday.
However, Julen Lopetegui seems keen to replace both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, as a second striker could join West Ham along with Niclas Fullkrug…
West Ham bid for Tammy Abraham
A story from Calciomercato now claims that West Ham have made a bid for Tammy Abraham.
The Italian news outlet believe Roma are looking to sell the England international this summer as they need to raise funds, with his £92,000-a-week wages said to be weighing down on their finances.
Calciomercato believe West Ham offered around €30m (£25m) to sign Abraham, who moved to Roma from Chelsea in a £34m deal back in August 2021.
However, the east Londoners have not received a positive response from the Roma No.9 after making an offer, as he is believed to be holding out for a move to AC Milan instead.

Calciomercato add that Atalanta could also move for Abraham after Gianluca Scamacca suffered serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.
Unfortunately, Calciomercato do not offer much chronology in their report, simply stating that West Ham have ‘made an attempt’ to sign the Londoner – it does not make clear whether that bid came before or after progress was made in talks to land Fullkrug.
Tim Steidten should look to sign both England international and Niclas Fullkrug
In our view, West Ham should aim to sign Abraham as well as Fullkrug, if that is not already the case.
The aforementioned Antonio and Ings only scored eight goals combined last season, which is not good enough for a West Ham side who hold ambitions of qualifying for Europe once again.

If Fullkrug – aged 31 – is the only new striker to join, and suffers a serious injury, Lopetegui would be back to square one with his situation in the attacking department.

Therefore, Abraham – who Corriere dello Sport believe is now available for just £21m – should be targeted as well as the German, to provide healthy competition at the London Stadium.
