Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been fairly quiet in the transfer window thus far, with just one signing between the two.
The Gunners are yet to get a new signing over the line, while the Lilywhites have brought Archie Gray to N17 from Leeds United.
Arsenal and Tottenham are likely to be busy on the transfer front as they look to build on seasons in which they both just fell short of their goals.
The Gunners took the Premier League title race to the final day of the season but once again missed out.
Meanwhile, Spurs had to settle for fifth place after being in the top four for much of the campaign.
Now, it looks like Arsenal are closing in on two signings and could soon leapfrog Tottenham in terms of new players through the door.
Talks over Riccardo Calafiori appeared to have stalled in recent days but things are now moving in the right direction once again.
In addition, Arsenal are now said to be closing in on a signing that Spurs reportedly tried to make last season.

Arsenal set to beat Tottenham to Tommy Setford
The player in question is Ajax goalkeeper Tommy Setford, who plays for the Dutch club’s Under-19s and has represented England at Under-19 level.
TEAMTalk reported last November that Tottenham were looking to sign the Haarlem-born prospect, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also keen.
However, recent speculation about Setford has mostly involved Arsenal being in pursuit of his signature.
For instance, Fabrizio Romano reported a week ago that the Gunners had submitted a first offer for the “big talent”.
Now, according to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are on the verge of finalising a move over Setford.
The Gunners have reportedly agreed a fee with Ajax in the region of €1million (£843,000) for the 18-year-old.
Ajax had wanted to keep Setford, but he had one year left on his contract and was unwilling to sign fresh terms, added the report.
Arsenal are reportedly hoping that the deal is done in time for him to join the squad on their tour of the United States.
Setford looks like a top talent with a bright future, so credit to the Gunners for getting to this point ahead of the likes of Tottenham.
Setford proud to play for England
Although Setford was born in the Netherlands and holds a Dutch passport, he is eligible to play for England through his father’s nationality.
“It’s a great honour to play for England,” Setford told the Ajax website last year. “It’s the land my father’s from, so I play for him a little.
“But they appreciate me at England: the coaches and goalkeeper coaches are happy with how I do things.”
Although the Dutch FA (KNVB) has approached Setford over representing the Oranje, he doesn’t see a reason to make the switch.
“Not only are the U17 coaches happy with me, but the U21 coaches and the first team see that I perform well in England. They see a lot of potential in me.”
