French giants Paris Saint-Germain may now be poised to ruin some of Ange Postecoglou’s plans to improve his Tottenham Hotspur squad this summer.
To date, Postecoglou’s side have made a commendable start to the window, stealing 18-year-old Archie Gray from the grasps of Brentford.
Perhaps some Tottenham supporters would have liked the club to have achieved more by now, but in the context of the Premier League’s top sides, they’re not doing too badly.
That being said, Johan Lange has only scratched the surface in terms of what Postecoglou will want to achieve this summer – who has already stated his ambition.
In addition to Gray’s arrival, Lucas Bergvall is also expected to create a ton of good feeling in N17 this season, with Spurs fans patiently waiting to see what kind of role he will play.
And to add to the core of excellent youngsters Postecoglou is building, Tottenham have made an enquiry to sign Desire Doue this summer.
In fact, Postecoglou has made Doue his priority target according to reports, believing the versatile 19-year-old can elevate his attack.
PSG table bid for Stade Rennais star Desire Doue after Tottenham enquiry
Unfortunately for Spurs, they will face fierce competition from French champions PSG if they do intend to bid for the Stade Rennais winger this summer.
According to reliable journalist Florian Plettenberg, PSG have just made a bid totalling €50m (£42m) for Doue.
Plettenberg shared the news on X, hours after it had been revealed that Bayern Munich were also in ‘advanced talks’ for Doue.
The journalist simply stated: “Understand that PSG have offered €40m + €10m add-ons for Desire Doue today!”
Hardly ideal news for Tottenham, who may not fancy competing with PSG to sign a top French talent – especially in a summer in which they are trying to replace Kylian Mbappe.
That being said, if Spurs want to compete at the top, they will need to flex their financial muscle at times, the benefit of Daniel Levy propelling the club to such a strong position.
And although Memphis Depay has been told to join Tottenham this summer, who is now a free agent after the Euros, the club can surely be a lot more ambitious.
