Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a right-back.
Indeed, with Emerson Royal seemingly on his way out at Spurs, Tottenham need to bring in a new right-sided full-back.
One player who has been linked to Spurs a fair bit in recent times is Kyle Walker-Peters.
The Southampton defender isn’t only a quality player, he’d help count towards Spurs’ homegrown quota, so a return to north London would make plenty of sense.
Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Walker-Peters and his future, and, interestingly, despite recent reports, the journalist says that West Ham are more active on Walker-Peters as things stand.
West Ham more active on Kyle Walker-Peters
Jacobs shared what he knows about the £12m defender.
“With right-backs you’re right with what you say, there is room for one more. West Ham I’m told are more active on Kyle Walker-Peters. There were discussions with Walker-Peters and Flynn Downes going the other way. West Ham are still there while Spurs haven’t advanced anything on Walker-Peters,” Jacobs said.
Walker-Peters would be better joining West Ham
Walker-Peters returning to Spurs would be a sentimental move, but perhaps it’s not the best for his career.
Indeed, Walker-Peters would be the second-choice right-back at Tottenham, and, depending on how Archie Gray develops, he could even end up being third-choice.
Meanwhile, West Ham would be able to offer the defender regular minutes in a team that is looking to seriously push on under Julen Lopetegui.
At the moment, West Ham lead the race, and that may well be the best thing for Walker-Peters rather than returning to his former stomping ground.
The idea of a swap deal with Flynn Downes is rather interesting as well, and that may ultimately be the deal Southampton look to push through if they are to let Walker-Peters go.
