Arsenal failed to sign a striker during the winter transfer window.
Mikel Arteta admitted he wanted to find a solution in the market after losing Gabriel Jesus to a serious knee injury, saying: “We are going to try, for sure. We are actively looking. We will try, but let’s see who we can get.”
TBR Football believe Arsenal approached RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko – but the German side refused to sell – and while the Gunners were also offered Randal Kolo Muani on loan, the north Londoners eventually went without.
The situation has since become worse after Kai Havertz tore his hamstring – ruling him out for the rest of the season – leaving Arteta to use Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker last time out against Leicester.
Now – however – Arsenal could sign Roberto Firmino to replace Havertz and Jesus.
Roberto Firmino keen on return to England as talks begin to rip up Al-Ahli contract
A story from RTI Esporte in Brazil now states that the South American is holding talks with Al-Ahli over a contract termination, with Arsenal monitoring the situation.
The Brazilian news outlet state that Arsenal view Firmino – who Ole Gunner Solskjaer called “top class” – as an excellent market opportunity after injuries to Havertz and Jesus.

Flamengo are also keen on the Brazil international, but RTI Esporte claim the 33-year-old would prefer a return to Europe.
Firmino, who scored 11 goals against Arsenal while at Liverpool, is unhappy after Al-Ahli opted not to register him for the Saudi Pro League, instead handing his spot to new signing Galeno.
Arsenal could lose out to Liverpool
Interestingly, the report states that Firmino is dreaming of a return to Liverpool.
Clik here to view.

The Maceio-born striker left Anfield when his contract expired back in the summer of 2023, moving to Al-Ahli on a free transfer, where he has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in 60 appearances.
However, the development involving Galeno could now open the door to Firmino coming back to the Premier League – with Arsenal and Liverpool potential destinations.
