Aston Villa have assembled one of the brightest and most exciting squads in the Premier League.
Morgan Rogers has been incredible this season, while Youri Tielemans has been back to his best too.
However, perhaps the biggest gem at Villa this season has been Jhon Duran.
The striker has been remarkable this term, scoring for fun despite limited starts for Unai Emery’s side.
Duran has earned a lot of praise this year, and, understandably, his good performances have brought some attention in the January transfer window.
West Ham have bid for Duran this month, while Borussia Dortmund are keen too.
However, according to David Ornstein, speaking on The Athletic FC YouTube channel, Villa have no interest in selling Duran, and they value the striker at over £100m now.

Jhon Duran valued at over £100m
Ornstein shared what he knows about Duran and how Villa view the player.
The journalist says that Villa actually value Duran in excess of £100m now.
“The proposal itself was worth £57m, inclusive of add-ons, and that is for a player they have a long-standing interest in dating from last summer. They have upped it significantly to try to bring Aston Villa to the negotiating table,” Ornstein said.
“Aston Villa have kept their hands away from the table, because that’s nowhere near their valuation, so of course they rejected it.
“They value Duran more in the region or upwards of £100m, they think he’s a top talent, 21 years old, with immense goalscoring prowess and potential.
Jhon Duran compared to Jack Grealish
Aston Villa having a player worth over £100m is mind-boggling in a lot of ways, but, we have been here before.
Indeed, Jack Grealish was sold for £100m to Manchester City back in 2021, and, Duran is arguably in a position where his stock is higher than Grealish’s.
Jhon Duran this season | Jack Grealish 2020/21 | |
Games | 19 | 26 |
Minutes | 603 | 2184 |
Goals | 7 | 6 |
Assists | 0 | 10 |
Minutes per goal contribution | 86 | 137 |
Age | 21 | 25 |
Duran is younger than Grealish was, he’s affecting the game more with his goals, and he’s a striker, which automatically makes him more valuable as a player.
That £100m valuation does sound hefty, but based on how the transfer market is going these days, it’s easy to see why Villa value him that highly.
Whether or not Villa can get such a fee for Duran is another question, but, the reality is that the striker, barring a crazy offer, pretty much isn’t for sale.
