Marcus Rashford has caused shockwaves across the Premier League after admitting he’s ready to leave Manchester United.

Indeed, while United hadn’t yet made a decision on Rashford heading into the January window, the attacker took matters into his own hands on Tuesday, claiming that he’s ready for the next step in his career.

Of course, Rashford’s comments have led to a flurry of speculation.

Joe Cole has previously said that Rashford would be a good signing for Arsenal, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, this is actually something the Gunners have looked into before.

The journalist says that Arsenal looked at signing Rashford last summer and they even inquired about a move.

Arsenal asked about signing Marcus Rashford

According to Jones, Rashford has indeed been on Arsenal’s radar previously.

The journalist says that the Gunners did actually ask about signing Rashford in the summer.

“He’s been on their radar before. I know they did look at signing Rashford last summer and they did inquire about it, and now that he is available, there’s not many teams going to be in there and you could go and get him,” Jones said.

Could Arsenal go for Marcus Rashford?

Arsenal asked about Rashford in the summer, and now he is available, so could a move be re-ignited?

According to Miguel Delaney, speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, Arsenal could be an option for Rashford this time around as well.

“Really, really briefly, Miguel, three-part question. Where is he going? Will it happen between before 11pm on February 3rd?” Delaney was asked.

“It feels like his best option is abroad, although I think Martin raised one there. Arsenal could be an interesting one, given they want a forward, possibly can’t get one in January and certainly not on loan. So maybe that presents an option that suits all parties.

I think it will go just with the direction of travel. And also because United want an overhaul. And I think if he goes, because of that, it’s probably likely to be permanent,” Delaney said.

Of course, whether or not Rashford would be a good signing is another question entirely.

Rashford’s form over the past 18 months is poor to say the least, and the stats show that.

Arsenal have been looking at new left wing options as of late.

Nico Williams has been linked to Arsenal, while the Gunners have also looked at Rafael Leao as of late.

Rashford is another potential option, but, given how he has been playing as of late, it would be hard to blame Arsenal if they went for Leao or Williams instead.
