Exclusive: Arsenal and Liverpool have serious doubts about 'unbelievable' talent, think he's heading to Madrid

Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are yet to make a new approach for Bayern Munich contract rebel Alphonso Davies as they believe he has his heart set on Real Madrid.

If there is one position where Real Madrid’s otherwise star-studded squad is a little short of elite quality, it’s at left-back.

That will change, however, if Alphonso Davies follows in the footsteps of Toni Kroos and David Alaba by swapping Munich for Madrid when his contract expires at the Allianz Arena, thus displacing Ferland Mendy on the flank.

TBR have been told that Real Madrid remain convinced that the jet-heeled Canada international – labelled an ‘unbelievable‘ talent by Bayern teammate Joshua Kimmich – will be plying his trade at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2025.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea appear to share that perspective, the Premier League powerhouses deciding against making a concerted push for the 2020 Champions League winner as they believe the Spanish capital will be Alphonso Davies’ eventual destination.

Liverpool and Arsenal think Alphonso Davies is heading to Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s confidence may have kept the likes of Arsenal at arms’ length, but the same cannot be said of another English giant hot on the heels of Davies.

TBR reported a few weeks ago that Manchester United have made enquiries about Davies, having already snapped up two former members of the Bayern backline in the shape of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.

The sacking of Erik ten Hag and the subsequent appointment of Ruben Amorim, furthermore, means a deal for Davies makes even more sense.

Amorim is expected to bring the wing-back system which worked wonders at Sporting with him to Old Trafford. Davies, an exhilarating attacker but an occasionally weak defender, would therefore be well suited to that left-sided wing-back berth in Amorim’s system.

Arsenal and Liverpool, meanwhile, could be in the market for a left-back themselves come 2025, even if Davies appears out of reach. Jakub Kiwior is keen to leave Arsenal and return to Serie A, meaning a replacement will be required at the Emirates.

Liverpool want a left-back with Fulham’s Antonee Robinson a target

TBR understand that Liverpool want to bring Fulham’s Antonee Robinson to Anfield, and could offer Kostas Tsimikas in exchange. Liverpool like Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri too, and Nordsjaelland youngster Daniel Svensson has also confirmed interest from Arne Slot’s Premier League leaders.

“[The Liverpool interest is] great fun, of course. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right and performing well,” Svensson told Fotboll Skanalen recently. “I just use it as fuel to run on.

“It was obviously a bit surreal. I don’t know much about it. I only know that [Liverpool] watched some matches and such. More than that, I don’t know.”

As for Davies, who joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in a deal worth around £10 million back in 2018, his agent is keen to point out that there is nothing official yet regarding that highly-anticipated switch to Real Madrid.

“Although the player has many options, we have not reached an agreement with any club,” Nedal Huoseh tells German publication TZ. “[Staying at] Bayern could also be an option.

“All reports claiming otherwise are false.”
