Report: Real Madrid would absolutely love to sign £62m Man City player in 2025

There’s a little bit of uncertainty surrounding Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s deal expires at the end of the season and TBR Football understand he is yet to make a decision on his future.

We reported earlier this month that Man City have offered Guardiola a new contract and he can name the length of it, too.

It remains to be seen if his possible exit will have any impact on the current squad but it’s just come to light that Real Madrid are eyeing one of their star players ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

Real Madrid would love to sign Rodri

According to GiveMeSport, Real Madrid would absolutely love to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri in 2025.

Rodri, who City signed for £62m in 2019, is currently sidelined for the season with an ACL injury but that’s not stopped Real from circling around the Spaniard.

It’s understood City are still willing to offer the 28-year-old a substantial new contract to fend off any forthcoming suitors.

Rodri’s ties with Atletico Madrid may deter him from a move to the Bernabeu, anyhow, and with him contracted to City until 2027, a move away seems unlikely at this stage.

The Citizens would likely demand an eye-watering fee, too, which few clubs around the world could pay.

Man City have four-man shortlist to replace Rodri

City are expected to dip into the transfer market this January to find a temporary replacement for Rodri whilst he nurses his knee injury.

TBR reported earlier this month that Man City are eyeing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi – who actually came on as a substitute for Rodri in the Euro 2024 final.

Inter’s Nicola Barella is also among their list of targets, though, the Serie A giants consider him untouchable.

A telling Janaury lies ahead for Manchester City.
