Tottenham Hotspur have a big decision to make this summer when it comes to who they may potentially bring in as their new striker.
The 2023/24 campaign probably asked more questions than it answered when it comes to Richarlison‘s role at Tottenham.
Heung-min Son ended the campaign as Tottenham’s top scorer having waved goodbye to Harry Kane last summer.
But the South Korean was forced to play outside of his natural position on the left with Richarlison struggling considerably through injuries.
And it seems as if the Brazilian continues to cause considerable debate within Spurs as they consider their options in this summer’s transfer window.
A new striker is believed to be the ideal scenario for Spurs, but it now seems the Lilywhites may have their arm forced with Richarlison’s situation at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham may perform striker U-turn this summer
Spurs are said to be looking to bring in a new striker this summer with a six-man shortlist shared recently of their potential targets.
Richarlison has been linked with a potential exit from Hotspur Way this summer with the Brazilian receiving interest from Saudi Arabia.
But the £90k-per-week 27-year-old has remained resilient against the speculation and claimed he will not be leaving Tottenham this summer.
According GiveMeSport, Tottenham may be forced to reconsider their options this summer if Richarlison does not move on.
The report claims Spurs have plans in place to bring in a new striker this summer, but the Brazilian’s desire to remain at the club may need them to reconsider their options.
An issue may well lie in Tottenham’s valuation of their striker having payed big money for the 27-year-old just two years ago.
Richarlison still waiting to prove himself at Tottenham
It was a strange 2023/24 campaign for Richarlison at Tottenham with injuries really hindering his season.
Following surgery in the backend of 2023, the Brazilian returned and hit the ground running with nine goals in 10 Premier League games.
However, he was never able to prove whether that was just a rich vein of form or whether he could continue that for a prolonged period in the league.
Injuries saw the striker come in and out of the side for the final months of the season and Spurs are still left questioning what they can expect from him.
Ideally, Spurs could keep Richarlison at the club and add to him with a new striker as Postecoglou will require a squad filled with quality as he’ll need to rotate with Europa League football to content with.
