Manchester United need to undergo a serious summer rebuild.
The Red Devils are in the midst of their worst season in decades, and, simply put, something has to change at Old Trafford.
United need a new striker in the summer, and Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with a number of options.
Victor Osimhen has been linked to United, while Viktor Gyokeres is on United’s radar too.
Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off, Ian Ladyman has been discussing Liam Delap’s recent links to Manchester United, and he says that a trusted source has told him that Delap is actually United’s very top target heading into the summer.

Liam Delap is Manchester United’s top target
Ladyman shared what he’s been told about United and Delap
The journalist was speaking with Chris Sutton about Delap and United, and he says that someone who he trusts has told him that the £20m Ipswich forward is United’s top target.
“Yeah, I think you’ve made your point very, very well. Chris Wheeler, our Manchester United correspondent, wrote last week that Liam Delap, the Ipswich forward, is high up Manchester United’s list in terms of his centre forward this summer. I was actually told yesterday that he is top of that list,” Ladyman said.
“Who told you that?” Sutton asked.
“Well, somebody that I trust. So I think we can assume that that is the case. Very quickly, is it the answer?”
Liam Delap compared to Manchester United attackers
Delap is United’s top striker target, and, while that may not be the most exciting link in the world, it’s certainly an upgrade on where the Red Devils currently are.
Indeed, United’s striking options right now are poor to say the least, and Delap outshines both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in a number of ways.
Liam Delap | Joshua Zirkzee | Rasmus Hojlund | |
Games | 30 | 31 | 26 |
Goals | 12 | 3 | 3 |
Assists | 2 | 1 | 0 |
Delap has also been linked to Tottenham, while Chelsea have looked at Delap too, so there will be plenty of competition for the striker’s signature.
Whether or not United can get this deal done remains to be seen, but, on the surface, it does look as though Delap will be an upgrade on what the Red Devils already have.
