According to a recent report, Tottenham could bring back a £16m ‘prodigy’ this summer transfer window.
The North Londoners missed out on Champions League qualification by two points last season and will be eager to go one better next term.
Ange Postecoglou is expected to completely reshape the squad, with a number of players potentially departing.
Though, he’ll also be keen to add depth with Europa League football on the horizon, as one rumoured incoming emerges.
Tottenham Hotspur consider bid for Marcus Edwards
According to Correio da Manha, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a bid for Sporting attacker Marcus Edwards.
The 25-year-old was on Spurs’ books as a youngster but departed for Vitoria Guimaraes on a permanent transfer in September 2019.
Since then, he’s established himself as one of the best wingers in Portugal and earned himself a move to Sporting in January 2022, where he has continued to flourish.
It’s now thought, however, that a bid of around £16.9m would be enough for Sporting to sanction his sale.
Tottenham Hotspur face competition
Arsenal and West Ham United have both been linked with a move for the former Spurs ‘prodigy’ in recent weeks.
It seems Sporting’s willingness to sell paired with their relatively low asking price has caught the attention of clubs around the Premier League.
Though, Spurs will surely have the edge in negotiations given their previous ties to Edwards, who netted six times whilst laying on nine assists for the Portuguese outfit last season.
