The English transfer window has slammed shut but Arsenal and Liverpool are already on the lookout for their next target.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool started the summer fairly slowly but their transfer business burst into life late on.

Liverpool struck a bargain £11m move for winger Federico Chiesa, while Arsenal left it until deadline day to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea and goalkeeper Neto from Bournemouth – both on loan.

Arne Slot and Mikel Arteta’s squads are now locked in for the season, or at least until January, but their scouting departments are already busy looking for new targets.

According to reports, both clubs have their eyes on exciting Brazilian teenager Vitor Reis.

Arsenal and Liverpool send scouts to watch Vitor Reis

Work will already be underway at Arsenal and Liverpool as they plan for the January window as well as next summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool and Arsenal sent scouts to watch Palmeiras “wonderkid” Vitor Reis in action.

The 18-year-old defender has been attracting interest from top clubs in Europe with Barcelona and Real Madrid also sending scouts to watch him in Brazil.

The report adds that a big move to Europe is looking inevitable for Reis fairly soon after his performances in Brazil.

Arsenal had shown interest in Reis over the summer with the Gunners battling Real Madrid for his signature.

Vitor Reis could be a generational talent

Arsenal are not exactly short of centre-back options with Gabriel and William Saliba forming one of the best partnerships in the Premier League.

But Reis could arrive as an understudy to Arsenal’s centre-back duo, and the 18-year-old would only add to the quality in depth in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The same can be said at Liverpool, where Reis could learn from the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate on his route to the first team.

However, there is fierce competition for Reis’s signature and the Premier League duo will have to work hard to beat Europe’s elite to the signing.
