Tottenham Hotspur aren’t expected to be busy on transfer deadline day.
After spending over £100m already in this transfer window, Spurs don’t have that much room in their budget at this point.
However, you can never say never on deadline day, and speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has shared what could force Spurs into some business.
What could force Tottenham into making a signing
Gold says that Tottenham could dip into the market if someone they have on their wishlist suddenly becomes available.
“I can’t imagine they would suddenly abandon all of their plans for anyone who just rocked up in the last couple of minutes. It would very much be that if someone on their list suddenly becomes available. The focus will of course be on outgoings, Lo Celso and Reguilon. There are going to be some nervy moments trying to get them out of the club,’ Gold said.
Tottenham signings unlikely
Tottenham could go into the market if one of their targets suddenly becomes available, but that is unlikely at this point.
Indeed, Tottenham are looking at the top-end of the market, and while the transfer market can be unpredictable, it’s very rare for a player of this calibre to suddenly become available with just hours of the window to go.
Take Eberechi Eze for example. Eze has been strongly linked with Tottenham all summer long, and he’s proven to be unattainable throughout the window, and that’s unlikely to change.
The same goes for Jacob Ramsey.
Spurs’ business is probably over, and while there could be a late twist in the tale, that has to be considered as very unlikely at this point.
Don’t be shocked if Spurs end up doing absolutely nothing on this transfer deadline day in terms of incoming activity, but, as Gold says, there could still be a few outgoings at Tottenham before the window closes.
