Federico Chiesa to Liverpool is the transfer story that has been dominating the headlines this week.
Liverpool are very keen on Chiesa, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are locked in talks with the Italian.
Romano says that Liverpool are confident of doing this deal, but speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist says that talks are now at a crucial stage.
Indeed, Romeno says that Liverpool are now at the point where they’re discussing a very important point – Chiesa’s salary.
Liverpool discussing Federico Chiesa’s salary
Romano shared what he knows about these negotiations.
“The player is out of contract in the summer, so he’s a potential free agent in January. So how much does Federico Chiesa want for his salary? This is a crucial point that Liverpool are discussion, so it’s about the salary, the transfer fee. Talks are ongoing between Liverpool and Juventus,” Romano said.

Liverpool should be able to afford Chiesa’s wages
Liverpool are currently discussing wages with Chiesa, and based on what we already know, this shouldn’t be an issue for the Reds.
Chiesa was apparently happy to take a wage of less than £100k-a-week when he was negotiating with Barcelona, so the Italian won’t break the bank in terms of Liverpool’s wage structure.
The Reds, as we know, haven’t made any new signings yet this summer and after saying goodbye to two relatively high-earners in the shape of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, there should be room in the budget to go and sign Chiesa now.
Chiesa’s transfer fee is apparently quite low, so that shouldn’t be a huge obstacle either.
With just days to go in the transfer window, Liverpool need to hurry up and get this deal done, but, by the sounds of things, the Reds shouldn’t find it too difficult to land Chiesa.
The Italian could well be a new Liverpool player in the coming days.
