Tottenham have been one of the most interesting teams in the transfer window this summer, yet Spurs could have some more tricks up their sleeves.
Joao Gomes has emerged as a target for Tottenham with the north London side also likely to make a number of sales before the window closes, with youngster Jude Soonsup-Bell close to leaving Spurs for a permanent move to Cordoba.
Having already signed Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray, Tottenham look in good shape to challenge for top-four this season, with James Maddison also back to full fitness with Ange Postecoglou having options in every position.
And an FC Barcelona player has now emerged on Tottenham’s radar.
Tottenham eye late swoop for Barcelona star Andreas Christensen
According to Sport, Tottenham have joined the race to sign Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, with the Danish international tipped to leave the Catalan giants before the end of the summer transfer window next week.
Lauded by Antonio Conte as ‘incredible’ and ‘very hard’ via Sky Sports News, Christensen has also been linked with Newcastle United, with a Premier League return likely for the former Chelsea defender.
As per the report, Barcelona are open to selling Christensen this summer for as little as €25m (£20m), with the La Liga side once again in a position where they need to sell if they’re to register their new signings as well as make some late moves for other targets.
And for Tottenham, Christensen could be an outstanding signing this summer, with quality depth in centre-back needed if Spurs are to avoid a similar disaster to last year where key defenders were out injured at the same time.
Tottenham need to beat Premier League rivals to Christensen signing
Christensen looks set for a return to the Premier League this summer, with two big clubs in Tottenham and Newcastle now interested in signing the former Chelsea star with Barcelona open to selling.
And for Spurs, they need to ensure that they can beat the likes of Newcastle to Christensen’s signature, with the 28-year-old a player who can bring a lot of depth and quality to Tottenham’s backline for the new season.
With former manager Conte already giving his blessing on Christensen, Tottenham now need to make their move to sign the Barcelona defender, a deal that could go a long way if an agreement can be struck with the Catalan giants.
