Newcastle United have made four additions so far this summer transfer window and they’re now desperate to sign a defender.
Newcastle are in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi but that deal is yet to progress due to his lofty price tag.
As such, the Magpies are looking at alternative targets just in case they fail to agree a deal with Palace and it’s just come to light that they’ve made contact with a defender’s agent on the continent.

Newcastle United contact Logan Costa’s agent
TBR reported earlier this week that Newcastle are interested in Toulouse centre-back Logan Costa.
Now, it’s just emerged that the club have contacted Costa’s agent to discuss how much commission they’d have to pay, according to Corriere di Bologna.
There’s thought to be a gap in valuation between the two clubs as Toulouse are only interested in sanctioning his sale for £15m, whereas Newcastle currently value him at around £11m.
Indeed, that obstacle is certainly surmountable but a lot will depend on whether Guehi talks advance.
Bologna, who are also vying for Costa’s signature, are worried about Newcastle’s interest and the potential of missing out on their prime target.
Newcastle also considering Joachim Anderson
TBR reported about Newcastle’s interest in Crystal Palace’s Joachim Anderson earlier in the week and it’s thought that deal is a contingency plan for Guehi.
Anderson is valued at around £40m and has already been subjected to a £20m offer from Fulham this summer.
The Denmark international would still require a substantial fee to be outlaid, so perhaps Costa is the most likely arrival at this stage.
Signing the Toulouse man would allow funds to be allocated elsewhere.
