Arsenal have been patient in the summer transfer window having made just one addition so far.
Riccardo Calafiori joined The Gunners in a £42m switch earlier in the window after an impressive Euro 2024 campaign with Italy.
Now, Mikel Arteta is keen to add a midfielder to his ranks and has identified Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino as a prime target.
An attacker is also thought to be a priority and there’s now a genuine belief Arsenal can sign one of the best in Europe.

Belief Arsenal can sign Raphinha
Arsenal have been linked to Barcelona wide player Raphinha for most of the summer transfer window.
Now, according to GiveMeSport, there’s a belief the North Londoners can sign the former Leeds man as he’s struggling to make the grade at the Camp Nou.
The report claims that he’s ‘attainable’, so perhaps The Gunners should test the waters with an opening offer.
TBR ran a report in June which noted that Arsenal would have to pay £76.1m to sign Raphinha this summer – which is evidently a tough price to reach.
Raphinha statistics
Since Raphinha’s switch to Barcelona in 2022, the Brazil international hasn’t quite lived up to his lofty expectations.
Though, last term he still managed to net 10 times whilst laying on 13 assists, which is certainly a commendable tally.
The 27-year-old, who has been labelled ‘one of the best players in the world’ (Fabrizio Romano), is just entering his prime years, too, so Arsenal really should consider snapping him on while he’s available.
