Alasdair Gold has just shared key update on Jamie Donley's immediate Tottenham future

Right now, Ange Postecoglou has a wealth of youngsters at Tottenham Hotspur who are right on the cusp of first-team football.

Mikey Moore signed his first professional Tottenham contract recently, a considerable win for the club.

Chelsea were interested in signing Moore, but it seems as if the exceptional youngster was never close to leaving north London.

And as well as the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray who have been bought in this summer, Spurs have also been handing chances to Jamie Donley in pre-season.

Destiny Udogie called Donley ‘incredible’ for his performances in pre-season, playing out of position in the Italian’s role at left-back whilst he recovers from injury.

The 19-year-old is predominantly considered a second striker, someone capable of playing as a number nine or a 10.

And it’s testament to Donley’s ability that he has been able to perform so effectively for Postecoglou in pre-season when out of position.

That being said, Alasdair Gold has now shared an update explaining that Donley is set to head out on loan.

Jamie Donley will sign a new Tottenham contract before heading for League One loan

Sharing his update on X, Gold stated that Donley is set to join Leyton Orient for the season where he should get plenty of chances.

Perhaps some may have imagined that Donley would be ready to play in the Championship immediately, but it appears a clever decision by Spurs.

Were Donley impressing in League One, he could then be recalled in January, then afforded a chance at the level above.

Gold shared: “Understand Jamie Donley is set to head out on loan to Leyton Orient. Should get plenty of minutes at the League One club for his development.

“He’s also expected to be handed a new contract at Spurs. Orient also among those interested in young Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley.”

An exciting development for Tottenham fans, who will be keen to see Donley progress in his senior career, someone who can definitely still make it under Postecoglou.

Donley was one of several who thrived for Wayne Burnett’s Premier League 2 side last season, playing 17 games, providing 12 assists and scoring five goals.

And it’s now abundantly clear that he’s ready for the next step.
