Arsenal are being linked with a move for Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez and journalist Alex Crook has been giving an update on that situation.
Alvarez is said to be pushing to leave City after playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland.
Reports have claimed Arsenal are closely monitoring Alvarez, while further reports have suggested Atletico Madrid are also wanting to start talks.
Of course, Arsenal’s quest for a new number nine has been well-documented in the last few windows.
Alvarez would very much tick that box for them if he did sign.
However, according to Alex Crook, Arsenal fans shouldn’t be getting too excited over a move for Alvarez just yet.
Arsenal keen on Julian Alvarez but bid yet to come
Speaking on the situation with Alvarez for TalkSPORT, Crook has suggested that Arsenal are indeed one of the clubs to have shown an interest in the forward.

“I think it’s pretty clear he’s hankering for a move even though he started quite a few games last season,” Crook said.
“There was interest I’m told from Arsenal earlier in the window but I’m told they haven’t gone back to revisit that yet.
“But the interest is growing again from over in Spain, again it’s Atletico Madrid. Can they meet City’s £70m price tag? I do wonder. But I think it’s going to be one that rumbles on.”
Alvarez could give Arsenal the edge
£70m is a lot of money to pay for a new player in the summer window but if Arsenal want to get past Man City, it might be something they have to do.
The Argentinian forward is one of the best around and it’s only because Haaland is so good that he often gets overlooked for just how good he is.
Lauded by Phil Foden as being a ‘magical‘ player for City, Alvarez has also won praise from Pep Guardiola as well for his performance at The Etihad.
As Crook says, Alvarez is very much one to watch as the next few weeks play out.
