One player’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be about to come to an end.
Spurs have had a great summer so far. They’ve won every one of their pre-season games, while also being very active on the transfer market.
Timo Werner has returned on another loan spell, Archie Gray has arrived on a permanent deal and young Lucas Bergvall has also completed his move to Tottenham.
To add to that, Ange Postecoglou has managed to offload several players too. Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil have all been moved on.
Now, Tottenham are said to be ‘determined’ to sell another player.
Tottenham make decision on Richarlison’s future
Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in the summer of 2022 in a £60 million deal (ESPN).
The Brazilian had a disastrous debut campaign in the Premier League, scoring just one goal all season. He came under enormous criticism at the time.
Richarlison had a much better 2023/24, where he scored 12 goals in all competitions while mostly playing as a striker under Postecoglou.
However, his upturn in form may still not be enough.
Richarlison has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, and his future has been up in the air as a result.
Now, GiveMeSport have shared the latest on the situation.
The outlet claims that Tottenham need to sell before they can invest in a new striker this summer, and unfortunately for Richarlison, he is on the chopping block.
The report claims that Tottenham are ‘determined’ to sell Richarlison before the window shuts at the end of August.
If they manage to do that, Spurs will then try to ‘acquire a fresh attacking option’ before their Europa League campaign begins in September.
The striker Tottenham want as Richarlison’s replacement
Tottenham have been linked with plenty of names over the last few weeks.
A new striker has to be high up on Postecoglou’s wish list, irrespective of whether Richarlison stays at the club this summer.
Reports claimed a couple of months ago that Tottenham want to sell Richarlison and sign Dominic Solanke of Bounrmeouth as his replacement.
On Thursday, Fabrizio Romano backed the claim that Spurs are interested in Solanke, but a deal will not be easy to complete.
It will be interesting to see how much Tottenham will bid for Solanke if they decide to act on their interest in the coming weeks.
