Aston Villa have announced the signing of Amadou Onana today and that could well mean the end of their pursuit of one of Tottenham’s fringe men.
Villa have been scouring the market all summer and making moves to improve the squad after qualifying for the Champions League last season.
Unai Emery seems determined for things not to let up as he goes in search of even more than just finishing in the top four next season.
Emery, of course, has a respect around Europe from players following his body of work in La Liga especially, and he is a major draw while at Villa.
During that body of work, Emery has worked with countless top players and one player he has had success with is Tottenham midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso.
Emery is believed to be keen to work with Lo Celso at Villa Park and reports over the weekend suggested a swap deal involving Jacob Ramsey was close.
However, according to GiveMeSport, that’s not entirely the case.

Aston Villa yet to contact Giovani Lo Celso despite talk of swap deal
According to the report from GMS, Aston Villa do hold an interest in Lo Celso but as yet, there is nothing progressing.
The Argentinian midfielder is one of a number of players the Villans are looking at but as it stands, Villa have yet to make any sort of approach.
Quite whether Villa will make a move for Lo Celso after signing Onana, remains to be seen.
Lo Celso is out of the loop at Tottenham and is expected to once again be on the fringes of the squad under Ange Postecoglou.
The signing of James Maddison pushed Lo Celso down the pecking order last season and the arrival of Lucas Bergvall this summer has done little to help him.
Lo Celso, then, might well be hoping Villa do follow up on their interest and make a move.
