West Ham United have been fairly busy on the transfer front in recent weeks and chances are they’re not finished yet.
The Hammers have already signed three new players this summer, bringing in Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.
There has also been speculation linking the Hammers with the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alexander Sorloth and a host of other players.
West Ham are looking to strengthen their defence further, despite already signing Kilman.
And there’s a certain centre-back in their sights that they really want to sign, despite the odds being stacked against them.
West Ham planning fresh Jean-Clair Todibo talks
The player in question is Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, one of the brightest up-and-coming defensive talents in European football.
West Ham reportedly saw a bid accepted by Nice for Todibo, which would include a purchase option of €36million (£30million) that could be activated.
However, the defender is eager to join Juventus instead and, according to CaughtOffside, the Bianconeri are now prepared to meet Nice’s £27million asking price.
Despite this setback for West Ham, they are planning new talks with Todibo’s representatives to convince him to move to the Premier League, added the report.
West Ham not giving up in Todibo chase
Credit to West Ham for refusing to give up on Todibo. They certainly fancy their chances of beating Juve to the player’s signature, and with good reason.
The Premier League boasts considerable financial muscle, so teams in the English top flight can match – or even beat – most proposals from teams on the continent.
Admittedly, Juve will be a tough team to beat, considering they are one of the biggest and best-known clubs in the world, not to mention they’ll be in the Champions League next season.
Nevertheless, it looks as though the race isn’t over yet, so hopefully West Ham can pull off a considerable coup for a player described by Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig as “the complete package”.
West Ham have already convinced Nice by agreeing a deal, now their job is to convince Todibo to pick the London Stadium over the Allianz Stadium.
