Aston Villa have been very busy on the transfer front in the past few weeks and it looks as though they’re not done yet.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have had a quiet summer so far, but the Gunners will be expected to make a few additions to boost their Premier League title hopes.
Six players have joined the Villa ranks this summer, namely Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley.
As for Arsenal, they’re currently said to be in talks with Bologna over Riccardo Calafiori, but things appear to have slowed down on that front.
With regards to the Villans, it looks as though it’s only a matter of time before they make their seventh and eighth signings.
The Villans are reportedly close to bringing Jaden Philogene back from Hull City, just a year after they sold him to the Tigers.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has given the all-important “here we go” on a player wanted by both Aston Villa and Arsenal.

‘Here we go’ on Amadou Onana to Aston Villa ahead of Arsenal
The player in question is Everton and Belgium star Amadou Onana.
Romano, taking to X, says Villa and Everton have agreed a £50million deal over the midfielder, with a sell-on clause also included.
Onana’s camp has also proposed the Villans’ formal proposal, which will see the player pen a contract until 2029.
A medical is being booked and the deal will be signed and completed next week, added the transfer insider.
Villa making waves in transfer window
Onana has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best young players, and he would be an amazing acquisition any of the English top flight’s top clubs.
He’s a very talented player who stands 6ft 5in tall, is rapid and, at just 22 years of age, he’s nowhere near his peak.
Roberto Martinez is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying about Onana in 2022: “He’s a strong personality. He never hides, he asks for the ball and he dares.
“He is one of the most talented young players in Europe.”
Villa have signed a host of top players in recent years, including the likes of Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans.
They’ve now done it again, beating the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona to the signing of Onana.
