Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been heavily linked with a move to sign Nico Williams this summer.
The Athletic Bilbao winger is a wanted man. He has had an incredible Euro 2024 campaign with Spain and could end up helping them win the competition on Sunday.
Once the final is done, all eyes will be on Williams’ future, and a number of clubs in Europe are said to be keen to sign him.
Williams will have plenty of options to choose from – he will be a great signing wherever he goes. But up until this point, everyone has been guessing his next destination.
Now, one report has revealed which club Williams wants to join this summer, while another has claimed that the winger has verbally agreed terms over a move in the coming weeks.
Nico Williams wants to join Barcelona over Premier League clubs
Williams is a fantastic young player.
The 22-year-old had an amazing season at Athletic Bilbao in 2023/24, scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists in all competitions.
Williams’ performances have been ‘world-class’ for Spain at Euro 2024 as well. He has started all but one game and has looked like a serious threat on every occasion.
That has resulted in a lot of interest in the Spaniard.
Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Williams this summer. Reports have claimed that Arne Slot also gave Liverpool permission to sign Williams in this window.
Alasdair Gold revealed that Tottenham want to sign Williams as well, while Chelsea have also had a long-standing interest in the winger.
Unfortunately for all the clubs mentioned above, there is some bad news.
Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Williams wants to join Barcelona this summer, and the Catalans will make their move to sign him after the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday.
CaughtOffside have backed the above claim and have further added that Williams has ‘verbally accepted the Spanish side’s offer of a five-year contract’.

Barcelona’s salary proposal to Williams is very interesting
Barcelona’s financial issues are known to every football fan on the planet.
The Catalans have had to work really hard in recent seasons to steady the ship, and they are in a much better position now than they were a few years ago.
However, Barca are still not in the best possible shape, and that is evident in the salary proposal they have made to Williams.
Mundo Deportivo reveal that the winger has been offered a five-year deal in which he will earn less money in the first two years and his salary will increase from year three onwards.
The report says that Barcelona have used the same formula in all of their ‘important signings’ in recent years. Robert Lewandowski’s contract works the same way as well.
