Tottenham Hotspur are now up and running in the summer transfer window, with one signing over the line.
Spurs have signed one of the best young footballers in England, bringing Archie Gray to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Leeds United.
Tottenham are likely to be busy over the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou looks to make more top signings in pursuit of a top-four finish.
However, every club will invariably miss out on some targets for a multitude of reasons. They may have other moves in mind, for instance, or they may just slip through the net.
Now, a report has claimed that Spurs were one of several Premier League clubs in pursuit of a “massive” defender who has since joined an overseas club.

Tottenham miss out on Gabriel Osho
The player in question is Gabriel Osho, who made a huge name for himself at Luton Town over the past few years.
Osho was instrumental in the Hatters’ promotion to the Premier League and did well last season despite missing over a dozen league games due to injury.
According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham were among the clubs keeping tabs on the 25-year-old defender throughout the season and were considering offering him a Premier League lifeline.
Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Fulham were also in the picture, but all four clubs were left disappointed after Osho picked Ligue 1 newcomers Auxerre instead.
The report claims the defender was keen to make a quick decision over his future instead of running the risk of being without a club heading into the new season.
As a result, Osho has headed to France to join Auxerre rather than play the waiting game in the hope of a Premier League offer landing.
Osho ‘massive’ for Luton in promotion campaign
It’s a shame that Tottenham have missed out on Osho. He has proven himself in the Premier League and would’ve been a solid, low-risk signing.
Rob Edwards told Luton Today in October last year, as Osho was readying his return from injury: “He’s a naturally gifted athlete and someone who’s very intelligent as well, switched on.
“I think the level he was performing at last year was like a Premier League footballer anyway, so I expect him to be able to come in and handle it pretty well.
“He was massive for us last year in the success we had and I’ll never forget that.
“He played a huge, huge role for us in the promotion, so really pleased to have him back out on the grass.”
