Tottenham Hotspur have a busy summer on the transfer front as Ange Postecoglou looks to fine-tune his squad.
Spurs could certainly do with bolstering their ranks and bringing in more quality, but there’s also the job of moving players on.
Tottenham have a number of players who appear to be surplus to Postecoglou’s requirements and are likely to be offloaded.
Football.london‘s Alasdair Gold has now written up about which players could be departing from Spurs over the next two-and-a-half months.
A player who was once deemed a “little superstar” is likely to be moved on before the transfer window shuts, wrote Gold.
The player in question is Bryan Gil, who arrived at Tottenham to considerable fanfare but simply hasn’t managed to stake a claim for regular starts.
Gil has twice gone out on loan whilst on Spurs’ books, and last season he only made 12 club appearances for a mere 233 minutes of game time.
“Further up the pitch and Bryan Gil’s time at Tottenham is expected to come to an end after three years of being unable to get starts at the club,” wrote Gold.
“Clubs across the continent (have) shown interest in the 23-year-old Spanish winger in recent windows.”
Tottenham and Bryan Gil should part company this summer
When Postecoglou joined Tottenham, some felt it would’ve been the making of Gil, who is much more suited to an attacking system.
However, by the end of the campaign, Gil was behind Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner in the pecking order.
Gil has certainly shown flashes of quality at Tottenham, with Graham Roberts even deeming him a “little superstar“, but sadly it looks as though he’s run out of chances at Spurs.
With that in mind, Tottenham and Gil should look to part company this summer. The Spaniard certainly has what it takes to shine at a high level, so there shouldn’t be a shortage of suitors.
