TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Manchester City are still hoping to beat Arsenal to the signing of Norwegian starlet Sverre Nypan.
Nypan, who was linked with Arsenal and the City Group in January, opted to remain with Rosenborg until the summer, at which point the teenager is expected to move.
As TBR Football has previously revealed, despite not being able to finalise a deal in the January window – Arsenal remain confident of securing Nypan’s signature.
However, with Man City making strong moves to land the 18-year-old that has complicated Arsenal’s bid to sign him in the summer.

Manchester City ready to offer Sverre Nypan first-team spot
Sverre Nypan’s initial talks with the City Football Group pointed towards him joining their Spanish club Girona, but sources have now told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Manchester City are ready to offer him a move to the Etihad.
With Kevin De Bruyne close to joining San Diego FC and the futures of Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva far from certain, the Premier League champions now believe that the teenager could slot straight into the first team.
City also hope the chance to link up with fellow countryman Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb could play a part in persuading him to join.
Nypan’s club Rosenborg are allowing him to make the choice of his next destination with their demands of less than £20 million overall, unlikely to deter any of his suitors.
Why Sverre Nypan would be primed for pre-season with either Arsenal or Manchester City
The 2025 Eliteserien is due to commence on 29 March meaning that by the time pre-season rolls around for Manchester City and Arsenal, Nypan will have over half a season of football under his belt.
Nypan’s last competitive game was back on 24 December as he finished the season with Rosenborg who finished fourth in the Eliteserien last season.
