TBR Football sources can confirm the latest on the situation involving Fulham, Willian and Samuel Chukwueze ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Cottagers have a busy evening ahead of them as they look to bring in a new right winger for Marco Silva just before the window shuts.

Fulham have been working to find solutions on the right wing following an injury to Harry Wilson in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Now, TBR Football can confirm that progress is being made on one front, with a new signing potentially on the cards before 11pm.

Fulham confident of re-signing Willian while Samuel Chukwueze also offered to Cottagers

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can confirm that Fulham have opened talks with Willian in the last few hours and they’re confident of signing him.

The 36-year-old is a free agent after leaving Olympiacos at the end of December, and Fulham retain a long-standing interest in their former player.

In addition, Fulham have been offered Samuel Chukwueze after Everton said no to him, with AC Milan willing to loan him out. The Cottagers have a historical interest in him.

TBR Football have also been told that Fulham want at least one, if not two, players in by the end of the night.

What Tom Cairney and Dejan Kulusevski have said about Willian

Fulham captain Tom Cairney has always thought Willian didn’t always get the recognition he deserved.

Cairney said a year ago: “What a player. He is the best player I have ever played with by a mile.

“His touch, his brain, the way he moves the ball, his decision making.

“I just can’t imagine what he was like to play with seven or eight years ago at Chelsea.

“And in my opinion he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

“Hazard was that good in the same team that people don’t talk about him in the way they should.

“Because Hazard was ridiculous, but for four or five years, Willian was one of the best players in the Premier League.

“And he’s 35 now (at the time) and still stops dead and shifts it and you can’t get near it, and he’s 35.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski also praised Willian, saying: “Unbelievable player.

“Underrated, very good to watch him always and good to have played against him also.”
