TBR Football understands that Tottenham Hotspur are still pushing to sign Axel Disasi and think they can beat Aston Villa to his signature.

The North London club remain intent on signing another defender for Ange Postecoglou with Kevin Danso having just signed for Tottenham.

Radu Dragusin’s bad knee injury has sprung Spurs into life in their pursuit of new central defenders and they are working to bring in one more before Monday’s deadline.

Unai Emery’s team are hoping to sign Disasi and lead the race, however, Tottenham remain firmly in the hunt to land the Chelsea defender.

Axel Disasi not closed to Tottenham move but prefers Aston Villa

Axel Disasi is not closed to joining Tottenham despite having already agreed terms over a move to Aston Villa, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Disasi’s current preference is Aston Villa, but Chelsea are not keen to loan a player to a team who they see as a direct rival for the European places.

The Midlands club have been left frustrated by the Blues’ stance and that’s why the situation remains open for Spurs.

TBR Football sources still expect the defender to decide where he moves next – which would be Villa – but the move is no longer certain with Postecoglou’s side in the mix.

Tottenham still working to sign a forward

TBR Football understands that Tottenham are continuing to work on deals to sign a forward having seen bids for Randal Kolo Munai and Mathys Tel fail earlier in the window.

Tottenham fans had a clear message about replacing Richarlison following his underwhelming display in their 2-0 win over Brentford.

The Brazilian had a tough afternoon at the Gtech Community Stadium despite his side winning and securing a vital three points which lifts them into 14th.

Daniel Levy and Johan Lange are now set for a busy 24 hours or so as they look to bring in a new attacker and defender before Monday’s 11pm (UK time) deadline.
