Report: 'Unbelievable' star has accepted that staying at Arsenal would be pointless, he wants to leave now

The final two days of the winter transfer window are here, and Arsenal are still very busy on the market.

The Gunners have had several injury issues this season. Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, while Bukayo Saka is not expected to be back until at least the end of February.

That is why Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new forward before the window shuts on Monday night.

All eyes are on incomings, but one Arsenal player could leave the club.

Oleksandr Zinchenko thinks staying and fighting for a place in Arsenal’s side is ‘futile’

Oleksandr Zinchenko became one of Arsenal’s most important players when he joined the club from Manchester City in 2022.

The Ukraine international played a big part in helping the Gunners become title contenders. He, along with Jesus, raised the level of the club.

However, defensive struggles have pushed Zinchenko down Arteta’s pecking order at Arsenal. The likes of Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly and even Jakub Kiwior are ahead of him in the pecking order.

CaughtOffside have claimed that because of the above reason, the Ukrainian “has now accepted that it would be futile to keep pushing to get into the squad on a more regular basis”.

Zinchenko has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Arsenal, and the Gunners will not stand in his way if he can secure a move away from the club.

However, with the window closing on Monday night, Zinchenko and the clubs interested in him will have to hurry up to get a deal over the line.

Before deadline day, however, Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Premier League, and Zinchenko is expected to be in the squad to face his old side.

Two clubs are interested in signing Zinchenko from Arsenal

Zinchenko is not a regular at Arsenal, but that does not mean he has no interest from elsewhere.

The 28-year-old, hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by Kevin De Bruyne in a press conference during Euro 2024, is a very versatile player who is extremely experienced and has been a part of winning sides over the years. He would be a great option for many clubs.

TBR Football revealed that Zinchenko is keen on a move to Germany to join Borussia Dortmund, who have shown interest in signing him in this window.

Atletico Madrid are also interested in landing Zinchenko before Monday night’s deadline.

It remains to be seen if either of those clubs – or any others – will be able to strike a deal to get Zinchenko a move away from the Emirates.
