Saka compared to Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal
Pires picked Saka over Sanchez here, but the stats can easily be used to make a counter-argument.
Indeed, Sanchez’s numbers at Arsenal are actually more impressive than Saka’s.
Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal | Bukayo Saka for Arsenal | |
Games | 166 | 250 |

Callum Hudson-Odoi said that Sanchez in his prime was better than Phil Foden, and, at one point, the Chilean was genuinely one of the best players in the Premier League.
Saka is a world-class player in his own right, but he’s yet to hit that 20-goal mark in a season like Sanchez did for Arsenal.
Sanchez was also more successful at Arsenal in terms of winning trophies as he picked up two FA Cups, while Saka only has one piece of silverware to his name so far.
Of course, at the age of just 23, Saka has time on his side and, if all goes to plan, he should surpass Sanchez in almost every metric, but, for now, there is a case to make that Sanchez was the better player.
