The transfer window closes in a few days’ time, and there are a number of teams that have work to do.
Newcastle United may want to make some new signings to help with their push for the top four, while sales may also be key at St James’ Park given recent Profit and Sustainability worries.
Meanwhile, Leeds United also have a bit of work to do as they look to return to the Premier League once again.
Newcastle are ready to sell Matt Targett this month, and Leeds are keen on the left-back.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has shared an update on Leeds’ interest in the left-back.

Leeds hold Matt Targett talks, waiting for Junior Firpo move
Downie shared what he’s heard about Targett and Leeds.
The journalist gave an update that he hadn’t shared anywhere else, claiming that he was recently told that Leeds have held talks with Targett, but they’re waiting to see what happens with Junior Firpo as Real Sociedad are keen on the former Barcelona man.
Leeds have been linked with Cameron Archer too in recent times.
“I expect Matt Targett to go. I’ve not put this out anywhere yet, but I was told yesterday that there had been some talks with Leeds but Leeds are waiting to hear what is happening with their left-back, Junior Firpo,” Downie said.
“There’s some interest from Real Sociedad there, so if Firpo was to go, Targett could be an option there, but, as it stands, Firpo is still a Leeds player. I’ve also been tiold that there’s interest from Southampton and Watford in Targett, while I was told previously a couple of weeks ago that Leicester were interested as well.”
Matt Targett Championship stats
Matt Targett has spent most of his career as a Premier League player, but he has dropped down to the Championship once before.
Indeed, a few years ago, Targett made a similar move to the potential loan to Leeds as he joined Fulham for the second half of their 2018/19 campaign.
The full-back immediately established himself as the first-choice at Craven Cottage and he had an incredible record during his time at Fulham.

Targett’s arrival that January was a catalyst for Fulham’s incredible run in the second-half of the season that ultimately ended in promotion at Wembley in the playoff final.
Indeed, not only was Targett a brilliant full-back, but his arrival also freed up Ryan Sessegnon to go and play further forward down the left wing and score some vital goals.
Leeds will be hoping that Targett can have a similar sort of impact if he heads to Elland Road before the end of the transfer window.
