Tottenham up their Mathys Tel offer from loan with buy obligation to permanent deal
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Bayern have agreed to a £60million deal verbally and in theory.
However, the deal is not done, as Mathys Tel has not made a decision yet over which club he wants to join.
TBR Football confirmed earlier that Tottenham told Bayern they would be prepared to do a loan with an obligation deal.
However, Tottenham have now upped that offer to a permanent deal, in hope of getting a deal over the line.
Tottenham are pushing and are hoping that them committing to do a permanent deal is a sign to the player with regards how much they want him.
Spurs wanted a loan but are willing to do a permanent deal if that is what is needed to land Tel ahead of their transfer rivals.
What Tel could bring to Tottenham
With Tottenham currently struggling in the lower reaches of the Premier League table amid a spate of injuries, reinforcements are needed.
Tel is one of the most talented young players in European football, though his lack of game time this season means he hasn’t managed to build momentum.
However, Tel has been an important squad member for Bayern for two-and-a-half years now, which is no mean feat considering he’s still just 19 years old.
In addition, 83 competitive appearances for Bayern whilst still being a teenager also suggests the player in question is a star in the making.

The official Bundesliga website likened Tel to Real Madrid and France superstar Kylian Mbappe.
They also deemed him an ‘accomplished forward with oodles of pace, dazzling ball skills and a knack for curling spectacular strikes with his cultured right boot’.
In addition , Football Talent Scout gave Tel a 10 out of 10 for potential in 2021, deeming him a “world-class” prospect.
They compared him to Thierry Henry and deemed him a “complete forward” as well as a “well-rounded player who has all the qualities to play on many other positions and attacking roles”.
