Now, journalist Florian Plettenburg has revealed that Buendia is “on the verge” of joining Bayer Leverkusen on a six-month loan deal.
Plettenburg has claimed that the 28-year-old has reached a “total agreement” to sign for Xabi Alonso’s side.
It has also been revealed that Buendia’s deal will include an option-to-buy for Leverkusen.
The Mar del Plata-born technician is set to undergo a medical soon.

TBR Football understands that the Bundesliga winners decided to make a move for Buendia after midfielder Martin Terrier suffered an Achilles injury.
Sources have told TBR Football that Aston Villa have received an offer for Buendia as well, who is keen on a move to Germany.
Furthermore, while Bayer Leverkusen were trying to sign James McAtee from Manchester City, it was the Aston Villa attacker who they truly wanted to sign.
TBR Football have also been informed that Leeds United were keen on Buendia’s signature.
The player was open to reuniting with former Norwich boss Daniel Farke but he was not willing to drop down a division to do so.
