TBR Football understands that Tottenham have rejected the chance to make an offer for Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi, who now looks set to join Rennes.

Tottenham are hoping to sign an attacker with less than a week remaining in the January transfer window and Dominic Solanke now set to miss several weeks.

Solanke could be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a knee injury in training and Ange Postecoglou is pushing for Spurs to bring in a replacement.

Tottenham were offered an opportunity to bid for one of the Australian’s former favourites, Kyogo, however, they have opted to focus their attention elsewhere.

Tottenham reject chance to sign Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi

Tottenham have chosen not to pursue a deal for Kyogo Furuhashi, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

The North London club’s hunt for an attacker has seen them given the chance to sign a range of forwards from across Europe, but they are yet to make concrete moves.

Randal Kolo Muani was Tottenham’s first-choice forward, however, the Frenchman opted to join Juventus instead and even scored on his debut against Napoli.

Spurs had looked at Kyogo’s Celtic teammate Nicolas Kuhn, but they do not appear to be taking that interest any further.

Another player in Scotland Tottenham have been watching is Rangers striker Hamza Igamane and they are considering a move for the 22-year-old.

But if they do want to bring a forward to N17 this month, they will need to get a move on with just eight days remaining in the January window.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s record under Ange Postecoglou

Kyogo Furuhashi looks set to join Rennes in a deal worth around £10 million, despite Ipswich and Leicester having both had a look.

Kyogo really made a name for himself under Postecoglou who brought him to Celtic from the Japanese top-flight.

The 30-year-old played a key part in helping Celtic win the league and cup double under the current Spurs boss. The Japanese international netted a remarkable 54 times in 83 appearances under Postecoglou.
