Liverpool have never been shy about signing players from lower-end Premier League teams.
In fact, some of Liverpool’s best ever signings have been from teams that are struggling in the bottom-half of the Premier League table.
Virgil van Dijk came from Southampton, and Van Dijk is now a world-class defender.
Andy Robertson came from Hull City, and Robertson is one of Liverpool’s best recent signings.
Meanwhile, Georginio Wijnaldum came from Newcastle after they were relegated, while Diogo Jota came from Wolves.
Now, Liverpool could go for another player cut from that sort of cloth.
Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on NUFC Matters, Liverpool are one of the teams that have discussed signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Liverpool have discussed Liam Delap
Jacobs discussed Delap’s situation and the runners in the race to sign the £20m striker.
According to the journalist, Chelsea are the favourites to land Delap, while Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool have all discussed bringing Delap in.
“I don’t think Newcastle can get Delap to be perfectly honest. The player seems pretty sold on leaving Ipswich even if they do stay up.
“There is firm and strong interest from Chelsea and Tottenham could enter that race. I think he will have options in London which could be the players interest.
“Clubs like Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool they have all discussed Delap, but nothing is advanced there. Man City have a buyback clause, but I have no information to suggest they plan on triggering it.
“For Delap, I’m hearing it’s more about Chelsea at the moment who may make a consideration between Sesko and Delap.”
Former Manchester City academy players are becoming stars
Delap is wanted by a number of clubs in the Premier League, and, it’s not hard to see why.
Indeed, Delap is playing brilliantly this season, scoring a healthy number of goals in a struggling Ipswich team.

Delap may be on his way back to a top club, just one year after leaving Manchester City.
Delap is just the latest in a long list of recent Manchester City academy graduates to become a star.

There are worse transfer policies to adopt than just signing players from City’s academy.
Of course, Manchester City themselves aren’t having the best of seasons right now, but City are clearly getting something right on the academy side of things.
There will be a lot of frustration at the Etihad if Delap does end up becoming a star at Liverpool though.
Between, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, City have already strengthened their rivals enough without seeing a player like Delap head to Anfield.
