'Every day' there is more chance of Man United making one particular signing in January – journalist

There may not be a team in the Premier League that has more work to do in January than Manchester United.

The Red Devils’ season so far has been atrocious. They sit 13th in the Premier League table, and United have even had to contemplate relegation threats at times.

The January transfer window is open, and United need a revamp if they are to kick on under Ruben Amorim.

Indeed, the beginning of the Amorim era at Old Trafford really hasn’t gone to plan as United have failed to win any of their last four league games.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing United’s transfer plans, and he’s claimed that one signing in particular is starting to look more and more likely.

Man United more and more likely to sign an attacker

Jones shared what he’s been hearing about potential incomings at Old Trafford.

The journalist says that with each passing day, it’s looking more and more likely that United will sign a new attacker in this transfer window, while a number of outgoings are also possible.

“United do need a forward and I didn’t think we’d really see them try to do that, but it does sound every day like there’s more chance of that happening,” Jones said.

“If we look at a left back, if we look at a midfielder, if we look at a forward, if those three can come in and then they do manage to get rid of Rashford and Antony, if they didn’t talk like Malacia, possibly he goes. There’s three, four, five, maybe even six players that will try to get out of the door during this transfer window.”

Which attackers do Manchester United want?

Jones says an attacking addition is looking evermore likely at Manchester United, but the big question remains, who could this attacker be?

United have been linked with a number of options in recent weeks.

Randal Kolo Muani is a United target, while Dusan Vlahovic is a potential option for United too.

Of course, Viktor Gyokeres has been linked to United too given his history with Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP.

A look at the stats shows which of these three players United should be prioritising.

Gyokeres is the hottest of these three players at the moment, but Amorim has reservations about signing Gyokeres in January as he doesn’t want to tarnish his relationship with Sporting and their fanbase.

United may well add a new striker this month, and it will be interesting to see what the Red Devils have up their sleeve as we head towards deadline day.
