Tottenham Hotspur have been free spenders in the transfer market under Ange Postecoglou.
The likes of Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray joined the club in the summer transfer window, while an agreement in principle was reached to sign Min-hyeok Yang from Gangwon FC in January 2025.
Postecoglou also spent in excess of £150m on seven new additions in the summer of 2023, which is a clear sign that he’s been backed adequately by the Tottenham hierarchy.
And now, if reports are to be believed, the Australia has his eye on a defensive prodigy to shore up his rearguard.

Tottenham have had defensive problems this season, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven struggling with injuries, among others.
They’ve already conceded 15 goals in 14 Premier League games this season and are tenth in the standings after their 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth.

In an attempt to shore up their backline, Tottenham have recorded an interest in RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, who joined the Ligue 1 side for just around £100,000 last year.
According to Caught Offside, Marseille, PSG and Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on the 20-year-old central defender, who became the first player from Uzbekistan to play in the French top-flight.
The report also states that Lens want around £16m for Khusanov, who has made massive strides this season with his performances.
In October, TBR Football exclusively revealed that Tottenham and Newcastle are scouting Khusanov, who has been described as a ‘monster’ at the back by his teammates.

Standing at 187 cm, the young defender is certainly an imposing presence and his underlying numbers in Ligue 1 this season make for impressive reading.

He’s an aggressive defender who likes to dominate games and his profile could add something different to Tottenham’s existing options.
That said, Khusanov is still young and is still very much learning the ropes, so Spurs might look to err on the side of caution and see how well he develops before making a move for him.
