Manchester United have long been interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.
The 22-year-old had a phenomenal campaign in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season. He was among the best young centre-halves in the country and several clubs wanted to sign him.
Manchester United were really keen on Branthwaite and had even agreed personal terms with the defender. However, they could not convince Everton to let him go.
Now, with Ruben Amorim in charge, some fans are wondering if the 39-year-old would like his club to try and sign Branthwaite again in 2025.
What Ruben Amorim has told Manchester United about signing Jarrad Branthwaite
Erik ten Hag was at the helm at Manchester United when they made their move for Branthwaite.
The Dutchman was very keen to sign the talented defender, and we think he would’ve been a great addition to this United squad.
Everton managed to retain Branthwaite’s services, but Manchester United’s interest in the 22-year-old has still not gone away.
GiveMeSport reveal that when Manchester United were having talks with Amorim ahead of appointing him as their new boss, Branthwaite’s name was put forward to him.
The outlet further added: “Sporting director Dan Ashworth is believed to be one of the most keen admirers of the player, and the Red Devils’ recruitment team are open to making another move in the future.”
When Amorim was asked if he would like to have the Everton man in his side, the new Manchester United boss told the club’s board that their “recruitment plans could be maintained in terms of tracking Branthwaite”.
TBR Football revealed in November that Everton are trying to convince Branthwaite to extend his deal with them, but they have had no luck on that front so far.

Two other huge clubs want to sign Branthwaite
Manchester United would be a great destination for Branthwaite, but the young defender has other attractive clubs looking at him too.
TBR can confirm that United’s big English rivals Liverpool are also interested in signing Branthwaite, while European champions Real Madrid are keen too.
Even if they can’t get him to sign a new deal, Everton have decided that they will not entertain any offers for Branthwaite in the January transfer window.
That means Manchester United and other interested sides have to wait until the end of the season before they can battle it out for the former Carlisle United man.
