Aston Villa have now made a significant move in an attempt to beat Tottenham to one of Serie A’s finest defenders.
Unai Emery and Monchi are in the market for a new right-back, with the Villans believed to be happy to sell Matty Cash this summer.
So, which Tottenham target have Aston Villa now made a bid for? Let’s take a look…
Aston Villa submit bid to sign Michael Kayode
A story from respected Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla now claims that Aston Villa have submitted a bid to sign Fiorentina No.33 Michael Kayode.
It comes after Corriere Fiorentino revealed that Tottenham recently made contact with the Serie A side to enquire about the 19-year-old.
Pedulla claims that Aston Villa have offered Fiorentina €15m (£13m) to sign Kayode after his impressive 2023/24 campaign – in which he scored one goal and provided four assists in 37 appearances.
The report states that Fiorentina would consider bids in the region of €20m (£17m) – as the Italian outfit already have Dodo to step in as a replacement – with Aston Villa ready to make a second offer closer to that sum.

Pedulla adds that Monchi – Director of Football at Villa Park – is a big fan of Kayode, and is very keen to bring him to the Midlands.
If the Villans do manage to beat Tottenham to the teenager’s signature, Spurs could turn to Brazilian right-back Vanderson as an alternative.
Monchi could sign the new Nathan Ake for Unai Emery
Kayode is a relatively unknown quantity in football given his age and subsequent lack of experience, so Aston Villa fans may appreciate a comparison to a better known footballer to provide an idea of how he plays.
Interestingly, the youngster from Borgomanero has been likened to Manchester City No.6 and Netherlands international Nathan Ake in a scout report from Breaking The Lines.

Specifically, Breaking The Lines mentioned Kayode’s long legs which help him tackle opponents more effectively, with a comparison to Aaron Wan-Bissaka also being made.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Pedulla expects Aston Villa to return with a bid closer to the £17m asking price.
