Things are starting to look up for Everton as director of football Kevin Thelwell targets reinforcements this summer.

It’s expected to be a difficult summer for the Toffees but with Lewis Dobbin joining Aston Villa and Dominic Calvert-Lewin heavily linked with a switch to Newcastle United, Everton could receive a much-needed boost in funds.

The outgoings would give Everton extra wiggle room ahead of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline on June 30.

And according to TEAMtalk, Kevin Thelwell is particularly keen on landing one target for Everton this summer.

Thelwell personally wants to sign Yankuba Minteh

Everton are keen on snapping up Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United after the winger’s promising loan spell at Feyenoord last season.

TEAMtalk claims that a deal for Minteh would be separate from Calvert-Lewin’s switch to Tyneside due to PSR reasons.

However, Minteh has been on Thelwell’s radar for ‘some time’ and the Toffees chief is particularly keen to sign the winger.

Despite interest from Marseille, Borussia Dortmund and Roma, Everton are growing in confidence that they’ll land Minteh.

Minteh’s impressive Feyenoord stats

A lack of goalscoring threat in the final third was a huge problem for Sean Dyche last season, with Calvert-Lewin and Beto managing just 10 Premier League goals between them.

Everton’s wide players didn’t exactly pull up any trees in that regard either, with Dwight McNeil their top-scoring winger with three in all competitions.

Minteh would certainly add some much-needed firepower in attack as he bagged 11 times and provided six assists at Feyenoord last term.

However, Newcastle reportedly value the talented 19-year-old at around £40 million and Thelwell may have to push the boat out to land his man.
